The Washington-based Jamericans work in the reggae dancehall tradition of growling deejay (Shine) and silky-smooth singer (Notch), and underneath is essential jeep music, with all the thuds and thumps of a dancehall-hip-hop fusion. On the title track of their latest album, "Yardcore" (Delicious Vinyl), Shine describes their style as "reggae and hip-hop combined," and that's pretty much accurate, though their "yardcore" is characterized more by reggae elements.
